『Top 5 Wednesday』2017 Goals

Since I already have post about my 2017 resolutions and blogging resolutions I thought I make this about my reading goals and bookish goals for this year.
Let's see what I plan to do to keep my reading flowing and hopefully not to get back into that horrible mood called reading slump.

『blogmas』Top 5 Wednesday

Fictional items you'd give as gift

Thought that I'd do a Top 5 Wednesday again and the topic of this week is quite fitting for the Christmas Time.

Night Watch series (german edition) - Sergej Lukianenko

  • Septimus Heap series - Angie Sage
  • Night Watch series - Sergej Lukianenko
  • Harry Potter series - J.K. Rowling
  • Percy Jackson series - Rick Riordan

『books - T5W』Top Worlds/ Author Blurbs on a Book

Top Worlds

Well, let me think...

The Wizard World - Harry Potter - J.K. Rowling
Who wouldn't want to live there and visit Diagon Alley or Hogsmead.  I really wish I could wander the streets of a peaceful Wizard World at least one time.

Middle Earth - The Lord of the Rings/ Hobbit - J.R.R. Tolkin
I totally want to see the world and travel by horse to see a lot of it. Visiting Elves or just sitting around, chilling and eating with Hobbits. Maybe getting through some small adventures. That would be some great holidays. ^^

Shadowhunter World - TMI/ TID - Cassandra Clare
I actually would love to see Alicante and even the Bone City. It must be so interesting to visit there. I think I wouldn't be a Shadowhunter and do all the action parts of live. I just want to visit there as a tourist and learn something about the history. Maybe having a nice little talk with Magnus or so.

Inkheart World - Inkheart trilogy - Cornelia Funke
I would love to see the Inkheart World. Not while it get's destroyed or something, but to experience some nice litte adventures or just getting to know a world which was original created for a story.

Author Blurbs on a Book (When an author blurbs something great that ends up quoted on the cover or back cover of a new book)

I had too look through nearly all my books to find some blurbs, because I never really pay attention to them. It was quite a hard time finding some, but here they are...

"Divergent is a captivating, fascinating book that kept me in constant suspense and was never short on surprise. It will be a long time before I quite thinking about this haunting vision of the future."  — James Dashner about Veronica Roth's "Divergent"

"The world of Unravel Me is terrifying and unique; its characters steam with passion, and Tahereh Mafi's bold, inventive prose crackles with raw emotion."  — Rasnom Riggs about Tahereh Mafi's "Unravel Me"

"The Graveyard Book is endlessly inventive, masterfully told, and, like Bod himself, too clever to fit into only one place. This is a book for everyone. You will love it to death."  — Holly Black about Neil Gaiman's "The Graveyard Book"

"The Mortal Instruments series is a story world that I love to live in. Beautiful."  — Stephenie Meyer about Cassandra Clare's "City of Bones"

"This kind of fun will never fail to delight."  — Phillip Pullman about Eva Ibbotson's "Monster Mission"

『books - T5W』Top Love Triangles/ Series You Won't Finish

Top Love Triangles

I actually can't think of any, because I just hate that. i don#t really see the point in it and I always get way too annoyed with this. I just skip this one. XP

Series You Won't Finish

This is another hard question. I can't think of any on my shelf I won't finish. I like to finish a series, even when I'm not that fond of it anymore, e.g. "The House of Night" by P.C. & Kristin Cast. It got so  incredibly bad by now but I won't stop. I just want to know the stupid ending. I want to be able to fully judged it.

『books - T5W』Top Blue Covers (of books you own)/ Fictional Schools You'd Want to Attend

For this month of T5W I'll be doing the questions from August and September, because the questions for August weren't online before I left for Tokyo. But since I want to do them as well I decided to combine them. ^^ So this month will be a doubled T5W.

I always  like to answer the questions, because they make me think about books I almost forgot about or just let you remember something else from the story then just the main plot or something similar.

So lets have some fun with the double feature of T5W in littel Dark Wonderland. ^o^

Top Blue Covers (of books you own)

As always in no particular order:

Unravel Me - Tahereh Mafi
This is just one intense cover. I like the icy effects around the eye and how all the different shades of blue and white fit together, with just a little hint of a light purply pinkish touch.

Four - A Divergent Collection - Veronica Roth
I like this cover the best from the Divergent series. It might sound strange, but I like how this one plays all together and how the sparkling ferries wheel is so intense within all the darker shades of blue.

Syren - Book five of the Septimus Heap Series - Angie Sage
This is more a turquoise than a blue in real life, but I like how simple this is. I also like how the golden symbols give you little hints of the story and how the colours fit together.

Paradise Kiss - Ai Yazawa
What can I say other than that I just love Ai Yazawa's drawings. I like how she can combine the drawing of a fashion sketch with the typical style of manga. Also the different shades of blue are a nice touch to it.

Kagen no Tsuki - Last Quarter of the Moon - Ai Yazawa
And again it's the drawing style of Yazawa-san which makes this one so appealing. But this time a few more things play into it. I like the composition of it and how the cover gives you little hints of the story. Also the play of colour and layering is a very different one as the one from Paradise Kiss.

Fictional Schools You'd Want to Attend

I actually can only think of one school and this is Hogwarts from J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter. But I would hope that there will nothing scary happen. XD"

『books - T5W』Top Books You Wished You Read Earlier

That's a nice question. But let me think first...

I guess I'll start this one with the Ruby Red trilogy by Kerstin Gier. Since I mostly read english books I never came across it until a german BookTuber spoke about it and I had to read it. It was such a cute read and I knew I had to check out german books as well again.

  • Rubinrot (Ruby Red)
  • Saphierblau (Sapphire Blue)
  • Smaragdgrün (Emerald Green)
I think I also include the Divergent trilogy by Veronica Roth. I like all of the books a lot and I never expected to be so fond of dystopian books.
  • Divergent
  • Insurgent
  • Allegiant

And for the end I just say City of Heavenly Fire by Cassandra Clare. XD Just because it was the perfect ending.
  • City of Heavenly Fire

『books - T5W』Top Cover Buys (Books you bought solely for the cover)

This is a super hard question, because I try to not buy books by their cover. It's disturbing to do it. XD" I like to look at a book and then when I decided to pick it up I first read the short text at the back, if this sounds promising I start reading the first few pages. So I guess I don't really have cover buys. But I can list a few where the cover made me want to look into the book. XP

Starting off with the Shatter Me series buy Tahereh Mafi. These covers are just too pretty. *^*

  • Shatter Me
  • Unravel Me
  • Ignite Me
I guess that The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern is also a kind of cover buy. It is just so pretty and even I had to get it in hardback, because I wanted the black edges around the pages.
  • The Night Circus
Let me think of another one...

.
.
.

...I can't think of another one. XD"

First of we have the Divergent trilogy by Veronica Roth again. XD

  • Divergent

And second I can say that BookTube made me read the Shatter Me trilogy by Tahereh Mafi.

  • Unravel Me
plus the novellas
  • Destroy Me
  • Fracture Me

So yeah, that's it for this post I guess. ^^"

『books - T5W』Top 5 Books You Read So Far This Year (2014)

This is such a hard question. XD" Well, I decided for five of them and I'll put them here in no particular order, except reading order.

Divergent - Veronica Roth
I remember it well, I started reading this series, because I saw a lot of recommendations on booktube for it and I finally was able to start intensive reading again.
I really liked this book a lot, especially that it was so different from all the stuff I read before. I think I never picked up dystopian books myself and was only forced to read some at school.
I liked the world building, the characters and how it was so exciting to read about all of this.

Insurgent - Veronica Roth
Which is leading to the next book in this trilogy. I also really liked the second one a lot. I liked how the characters developed and how the story went on. It was still super exciting to read and I couldn't stop turning the pages.

Allegiant - Veronica Roth
Well, I know a lot have their problems with this one. And I have to say I understand why, but on the other hand, I really liked it as well. I know my sister thought it was super boring, and to be honest I think it should have been titled another way, but all in all I liked it. I actually kind of expected it to be like that and the ending, no matter if you liked it or not, I think was perfect. To be honest the epilogue was a bit too much,  but all in all this could have be an ending from me.

Unravel Me - Tahereh Mafi
I liked this one a lot as well. New trilogy, dystopian as well and a lot of hype around it. To be honest I didn't really like the first book, but since I already owned all of them I decided to give this one a try. it was good that I didn't abandon it. This book was action packed and a lot of things went in kind of different directions as expected. I still think that the main character is kind of annoying, but all in all this was a really good read.

City of Heavenly Fire - Cassandra Clare
Let's get to the last book of the party. I never expected it to be this awesome and good. I really didn't. I liked the first three in this series, but with the fourth everything went wrong. I really hated that and the fifth was also super annoying. Both of the main characters were just so annoying that I only kept reading because of the side characters. Nevertheless I was quite excited for the release of the sixth book. And the long wait was worth it. At first I was a bit confused, because the prologue started out with totally different characters, but after that everything was fine. It was action packed from the beginning and so fast paced I couldn't believe it. I ran through this book like no other from this series and I was enjoying it a lot. It had so many funny and good moments. And to say it, the ending was so perfect. Never before I was so glad to have an epilogue.

『books - T5W』Top Fictional Technology

I'm just going with inventions and only with four of them, because I can't think of anything else. XD" Skipped the last one, because I couldn't think of any siblings. XD"""

Bubble Fish - Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy

When I read the book a long time ago I was really fascinated by this invention. I still think a universal translator would be really useful for traveling the world. ^^

Capsules - Dragon Ball

I always wanted these Capsules to store my stuff. It's just so convenient to take a whole house or car or ship or whatever you need with you in those small Capsules. Just push the button and throw it and you have a car, motorbike, a new house or just new clothes or something to read.

Communicators - Sailor Moon

Here you can see the difference between the Manga version and the 2nd Anime version. I always liked the Communicators in Sailor Moon. But I still think that the wrist watch communicator is way more comfortable. Just put it on and it's nearly impossible to loose. The other one is just to mobile phone like and easy to loose. But still a nice idea. ^^

Deluminator - Harry Potter

This is one awesome invention. I like the idea of it being able to take all the lights out. It can be so useful at times. I still want one myself.

『books - T5W』Top Quotes

„I can’t go back to yesterday, because I was a different person back then. "
- Lewis Carroll, Alice in Wonderland

“Are you laughing at me?" "Not at you," said Will, grinning, "more because of you." I've never seen anyone get so excited over books before. You'd think they were diamonds." "Well they are, aren't they?” - Cassandra Clare, Clockwork Angel

"But between now and then, there was life...“ - Neil Gaiman, The Graveyard Book

„There is so much I owe you, too. But I’m never paying any of it back - not a smidgen. You’re also the one who showed ne that growing up might not be such a bad thing after all. Thank you, Ichigo. This is much too embarrassing for me to ever say out loud, but you’re the best friend I could ever have.“
- Novala Takemoto, Kamikaze Girls

“Deserves it! I daresay he does. Many that live deserve death. And some that die deserve life. Can you give it to them? Then do not be too eager to deal out death in judgement. For even the very wise cannot see all ends.” - J.R.R. Tolkien, The Fellowship of the Ring

『books - T5W』Top Genres

Fantasy
This is the genre I own the most books in. I always was a junkie for fantasy. No matter if books, mangas or movies. I always liked fantasy related things the most. I like to slip into different worlds and live through adventures I never would experience in real live.

Dystopy
This is something I never was aware of until I started reading again. I know it's kind of a hype still, but nowadays I don't mind it. As long as I like the story I like to read it. Since it's still hyped and popular books are written in this genre I own a few of it by now and I liked it to experience a different kind of world, even when it's just a future type of this world.

Magical Girl
This is a genre I took out of my manga world. I always loved it a lot. Just the idea of being a girl that has special/ magic power to fight evil is so appealing. Even nowadays when I'm adult. Most of the time it has a touch of fantasy to it and some cute adventures, but mostly placed in the real world.

Non Fiction (as in travel guides, art books, photo books)
I chose this to be something special in here, because I kind of collect travel guides. I even own some of countries I never went to, just planning or wanting to go. I like to read about the country/ city I want to visit. The same goes for photo books. I just love to look at some nice photos of my favourite countries and areas. It's like dreaming a daydream just by looking at them.
Art books are something special too. I do not own that many, but I love to look at those special created scenes or a different way of drawing a character or just another way of colouring and reading the small explanation about this pice of art.

Sci-Fi
This is a genre I own a few books of. I always liked sci-fi related things a lot, especially movies. I think that's why I like to read those stories as well. It's nearly the same as with the fantasy genre, different worlds, different technology and a nice big adventure.
