『cosmetics』My top 5 & my Flop 5 of the year

Since I'm still writing on a longer entry and don't know when it'll be finished I decided to post a different one instead. ^^ This is just a small one with a top 5 and flop 5 of the year of cosmetics. It's in no specific order and is only based on my own opinion.

Top 5:

  • essence Superheroes LE nail polish remover
  • Balea Handlotion Sheabutter and Arganoil
  • essence Me and My Ice Cream LE Blush 01 Ice Bomb
  • Catrice Glamour Doll mascara waterproof
  • p2 pure color lipstick 101 Rue de Rivoli

essence Superheroes LE nail polish remover

First I didn't know if I would like this product. It's the nail polish which should remove glitter polishes a lot better and faster than normal ones. On the one hand I thought it would be an awesome idea and on the other hand I was really skeptical if it would work.
But I have to say that I really never expected that. Not only that it works perfectly fine, it'S super fast and you only need a small amount of nail polish remover. I really love that, since I love to wear glitter nails a lot. Because of it's more jelly texture tissues or cotton pads (or what ever you use to remove polish) can't absorb it instantly and the nail polish remover has some time to be absorbed by the polish to get under the glitter particles. For me it works perfectly fine and even quite fast. I love this one and hope that essence will put this or something similar to be something regular available.

Balea Handlotion Sheabutter and Arganoil

Second is this hand lotion from Balea which turned into my favourite one ever since I discovered it at dm. Not only that I like the packaging but also the lotion itself. I like how it feels on my hands, it's not sticky or anything and it smells so yummy.

essence Me and My Ice Cream LE Blush 01 Ice Bomb

This is my beloved Me and My Ice Cream blush from essence. I never was fond of these cream blushes but this one totally got me. In general I love the howl LE but this blush is so nice and shimmery. It gives just a nice light pinkish shimmer to your cheeks. It makes you all cute and girly.

Catrice Glamour Doll mascara waterproof

This one I discovered recently and only got it because someone on youtube mentioned it how awesome these are. And I have to agree. I love these. When I normally used like three or four different mascara to give the perfect touch to them, I only need to layer this one a few times for a nice natural look. While my lashes are naturally quite long and thick, this mascara underlines my normal lashes perfectly and makes them stand out more. No clumps and no weird thickness.

p2 pure color lipstick 101 Rue de Rivoli

This year was my personal year of lipsticks. I never wore so many different lipsticks and I added a lot to my collection this year. In the past I mostly wore no lipstick, but this year I had to put it on daily. No matter if a light pink for cuteness, a flashy red to stand out or a nice dark color for autumn.
This one is one of my most favourite lipsticks this year. It's one from p2's new pure color lipstick series.
These are super nice to wear. Not dry at all. Not super long lasting, but they have a nice and comfortable feeling and give a lot of colour.

Flop 5:

  • Catrice Quick Dry & High Shine top coat
  • p2 Mirror Mirror on the Wall LE mystic reflection eyeshadow palettes (010 addictive beauty, 020 glowing night)
  • essence Happy Holidays LE snowflake topper 01 Let it snow!
  • essence nail art paper print 01 get the news & transfer solution
  • essence get big lashes mascara triple black & volume boost waterproof (double pack)

Catrice Quick Dry & High Shine top coat

I only bought that recently, but I do not like it at all. I'm looking for a nice and good top coat to seal my nail polishes. I always used one from essence, but wanted to try something new in the hope to find something better. But this one got me really mad at the first try. I always wait until my nails are dried through so nothing gets blurred or the color gets removed. Luckily I only tried it on a solid colour so it wasn't that bad. But I could see that some of the colored polish got removed and stuck to the brush of the top coat. I hate that and it's super annoying. I love to do nail art and when I have more time I would like to start it again, but I need a good top coat for that so nothing will be blurred again.

p2 Mirror Mirror on the Wall LE mystic reflection eyeshadow palette 020 glowing night

Onto the next. It's the most sad and disappointing of them all! I myself was super hyped about this LE from p2. I loved the theme and the packaging and the colours of the eye shadows. When I swatched them in the drugstore I was still super fond of them and the colours are super pigmented and really nice. I fell in love! But when I finally tried them out I couldn't believe what I saw or not saw. With or without base, they just did not stay in place and where I wanted them. Even while I was still putting on my make up! I got so annoyed and just gave up.

essence Happy Holidays LE snowflake topper 01 Let it snow!

Since the paper print is still popular and normally is something easy to try out I decided to get these two and try them. I really liked the idea to get a paper print which in the end is the right way and not mirrored. That's why I decided for essence's paper print manicure. Holy, I was so annoyed trying it out the first time. I got so angry at the things I couldn't believe it.
While normally it's super easy and a really fast process this took me an eternity until I finally reached a more or less (more less) acceptable result. I did the exact steps and how their described but it just did not work at all. Every time it put the paper on top of my nails and went over it with the solution it got stuck to the polish and REMOVED the polish. How annoying is that? I don't know how I managed to go through it and in the end having a more faded (like it was worn for weeks or sth.) look on top of the polish and I don't even know how the polish managed to stay after  the millionth try.
I really hope the take these out and come up with a different solution, because I really liked the idea.

This one also was a super cute and nice idea, but turned out to be a big disappointment. It's the snowflake topper with "snowflakes" and glitter in it. You have to shake it before applying to the nails. After a while the flakes sank down again. It's like a snow globe for nails. The only thing is that it's not really working. Well the effect in the bottle works fine, but it's nearly impossible to get the snowflakes to your nails. Some of the glitter is transferable but the snowflakes are just to heavy and are sinking back to the ground immediately and it's only possible to get one or to onto the brush.
It's a really nice idea, but it should work better on the nails too.

essence get big lashes mascara triple black & volume boost waterproof (double pack)

Last but not least are these mascaras. Since I bought them in a double pack I count them as one. Quite a while ago essence brought these out and had them on a special price as a double pack. Since I was on the look out for a really nice mascara I thought I could try these. One price for two sounded good and since essence doesn't cost that much I bought them.
While these aren't a total flop, I also do not really like them. Plus I only kinda liked the waterproofed one (the purple one). They are described as big lashes which will give you a nice volume, but I was desperately looking for the volume on my lashes. I just did not find it. They also are kind of sticky and clumpy that's why I don't really like them. But if you still want to try them I recommend to pair it with another mascara or to brush your lashes afterwards, to get rid of the clumps and the stickiness.
